GC Divers

The New Year’s meet is up again on divemeets.com. Please try to register this week so that if there are any problems, we have time to adjust before the day of the meet. It is sometimes complicated to get registered for a meet with divemeets the first time. It will be easy for future meets. If you don’t have your instruction sheet on how to enter, or you don’t have the dives your diver worked on with his/her coach, let me know. When you register, it will ask for the dives your diver will do on each board. Use the dive numbers on your sheet to enter these. Once you enter the numbers, it will let you know what those dives are etc. Your coach will be able to go online and check the dives you entered to make sure everything is correct. If your coach decides that another dive is better for the meet, those changes can be made up to the day of the competition.

Synchronized diving sheets will be in the diver’s mailboxes on Tuesday of next week. Those can be returned to the team fees folder at the pool.

We are excited about our first home meet of the season.

Saturday, December 6, 12-3pm, Keller Pool:

The GC Parent Organization would like to invite you to the 2008 Holiday Party on Saturday, December 6th at the Keller Pool. The party will run from 12:00 - 3:00. A professional photographer will be on site during the party for individual and team photos (Novice team, JO team, and National team).

Teams should wear following for the team photo:
National Team - National Team warm ups
JO - Team T-shirt and black or navy shorts or team warm-up pants
Novice - Team T-shirt with black or navy shorts or team warm-up pants.

Divers can wear whatever they choose for their individual photo.

The GCD Parent Organization is looking for donations for refreshments for the party. Please reply if you are able to donate anything from the list below.

9 & Under Cheese and Crackers (2 Cheese Trays w/ Misc. Crackers)
10-11 Chips (4 bags of chips & misc. dips, 2 bags Chex Mix)
12-13 Drinks (2 cases each Coke/Diet Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Water)
14-15 Fruit & Vegetable Trays
16-18 Cookies/Cupcakes (6 dozen cookies, 4 dozen cupcakes)

These are the instructions for the hotel in Houston for the Jingle Bell meet. I hope this helps. We are hoping to have a good turnout going to this meet. It is always a great meet with all of the effort they put into raffles etc. Most of the teams in Texas should be there. If you need help selecting dives for this meet, please ask your coach at your next practice. This meet is posted on divemeets.com as well. Let’s show up in force and show them how strong GCD again this year!!! They have events for future champs, novice and J.O.(FINA) so our whole team is elligible to go Krista

Here are instructions to give your guests on how to make their reservations:

2. Ask for Reservations Department
3. Say you would like to make reservations in the group block for “GC Divers”, grouping code “GCDI”, then give them your check-in, and checkout date.
4. They will then re-confirm the reservation, and give them a confirmation number.

I would like to invite you all to the Jingle Bell Classic 2008 on December 13 - 14, 2008. We will be hosting this event in our awesome diving facility on the University of Houston campus. We hope you will come and enjoy this beautiful place and we hope to make this meet as fun as it always is.

*Important Info: Entry into the diving facility is through the lobby only – we will have the meet entry table and registration table directly in the lobby. Please be aware that no athletes or parents may enter any other part of the facility. No parents will be allowed on deck – spectator stands only!!

We had a very successful meet in Conroe this weekend. The weather was a little chilly, but beautiful. This outdoor venue was at least covered by a very nice tent with built-in heaters all around.

Medals were awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers…

Our Novice divers won eight medals - congratulations Novice divers!

Our JO Team won twenty-five medals - way to go J.O. Team divers!

We also had a Master’s entry who won a medal, and we won three medals in the Bronze category.

Congratulations to all divers who traveled to Conroe and competed!
